Commercial EnergyBroker

After starting my working career with Barclays Bank, I decided I wanted to ask customers more than ‘How would you like the money!’

I moved into a sales career with Bedford County Press; selling advertising space and ideas was an excellent education in customer service.  The industry of advertising and free newspapers was very different thirty years ago …for a start there was no internet!

After five years working on local papers, I moved into mobile communications and spent the next seven years involved in the explosion of the mobile phone industry. The handsets were large and so were the bills in the 1990’s, totally different to the packages now available.

Being a local girl and working with local businesses my entire career my promises and commitment had to be ‘spot on’, otherwise I would have never received any repeat business. These pledges lead me to an opportunity at Bedford Rugby Club where I was fortunate enough to be involved with the club during its promotion to the Premiership.  I continue to help with their sponsorship.

After starting a family I was lured back to work due to my career history. Back in the 1990’s I’d sold mobile phones to two of Utilitrack Online’s directors.

So let me compare the products I’ve sold, mobile phones versus gas and electricity. Mobiles are now a commodity and the energy industry requires a consultative approach. Whilst the latter might not be as glamorous, the opportunity to benchmark a client’s energy spend and in the process  help them to find a more competitive rate makes it a far more rewarding marketplace.
